04.01.2012 - “ECO_RANGE”
when design becomes ECO (ECO-sustainable and ECOnomic)

MANERBA has presented its new and exclusive line for eco-sustainable “eco-range” office furniture designed with technologies that have the objective of reducing the impact on the environment and the optimization of materials.

MANERBA’s strategic approach to the issues of environmental sustainability had already started in 2006 when the Company obtained its ISO 14001Certification, an attestation to the adoption, on one hand, of a system that controls the impact of the company’s activities on the environment, and on the other, the pursuit of a coherent, effective and above all, sustainable improvement of these corporate activities through a constant commitment along the years, in terms of the reconversion and the eco-sustainability of its products.

“ECO_RANGE”

The “eco_range” collection is a complete office furbishing program covering reception counters, operating desks and cupboards. The collection matches in an innovative way, the need for awareness of resources used and limited costs in a “design-driven” perspective, involving the use of a series of technologies, materials and production processes with a low impact on the environment. Among these are: the use of panels in wood originating from controlled forest development certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) that guarantees respect for biological cycles of plants and avoids the indiscriminate exploitation of the woods; the use of recyclable and natural materials such as glass, aluminum and marble; and the use of emission tests to detect the emission of class E1 formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). All these testify to the commitment of MANERBA’s research division which is extremely sensitive to environmental issues. The packaging used for all the elements of the “eco_range” collection do not contain PVC – and are made up of 50% recycled materials by weight.

The “Eco_range” is subsequently divided into three collections: BeautyTouch_eco, Click_eco and ThinBox_eco.

BeautyTouch_eco

This is a modular reception system that offers an infinity of solutions for the suitable customization of office spaces: from the standard reception systems to the front offices setup at various stations. There is a wide range of materials that can be customized with woods that are totally FSC certified, providing for a reduction of thicknesses in the load-bearing panels, and always matched with fine elements such as glass for the sloping front panel which highlights a welcoming outlook and breaks away from the traditional barrier layouts. Numerous possibilities combine with elements of the BeautyTouch_eco line, highly customized and flexible to endow an atmosphere of refined elegance to office spaces.

Click_eco

It is a line of ergonomically developed office desks, work counters and cabinets that allow for balanced and up-to-date furnishing solutions in a perspective of increased comfort for the users, and focusing on functionality and design.  The design of the desks of the Click_eco line consists in the limitation of the number of fastening components used (from the initial 24 elements to a total of only 8), and likewise, also the use of small plastic items and thicknesses of the work counters, with the consequential lowering of costs of products, assembly and disposal. Among the plus factors that distinguish the Click_eco line is the extremely high performing structure in terms of sturdiness and conformity to the recent European norms, UNI-EN 527/2011, that contain the latest in issues regarding safety at the workplace.

ThinBox_eco

Lastly, the ThinBox_eco collection of mobile modular containers and drawer units is made up of large-capacity elements designed for various uses: from simple cupboards of different heights to floor-rail drawer units, up to the elegant wall drawer units, and to the more fancy cupboards ideal for alternating cabinets with the sitting areas with padded-seat benches.

In the ThinBox_eco cabinets, the design focuses on the use of less valuable raw materials such as melamine wood, and the reduction of 10 mm of the casing thicknesses, besides a fine-tuning of an ad hoc processing method for the application of thin ABS edge bands.
